After being cooped up at home for weeks, Chinese billiards fans can’t wait to be back to their favorite local billiards clubs! The Chinese billiards market is expected to see a surge after Covid-19. 
 
And here are more hot news in China’s billiards industry presented to you by the organizing committee of GBE expo.
 
The 2020 “JOY Cup” Chinese Billiards Open Championships will be held this April 9-15 in Shanghai as the first billiards game held in China this year. According to JOY, the game will be live-streamed abroad with English commentary, in order to attract more international fans for Chinese billiards during this special period. 
 
Following JOY’s event, the 2020 LCBA Chinese Nine Ball Challenge Competition will be staged on April 24th in Tianjin, and the 2020 LCBA “PERI·Mingjue·Laili Cup” Chinese Billiards Handicap on May 1st in Suzhou.
 
Since this March, sports venues across China have reopened orderly in many provinces and cities, like Guangdong, Fujian, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Hunan, Heilongjiang, Beijing, Shanghai, and etc. Guangdong also encourages the organization of sports competitions under strict adherence to disease prevention and control protocols.
 
During the Covid-19 lockdown, the General Administration of Sports Training Bureau and Chinese Billiards & Snooker Association (CBSA) together introduced billiards into the national training facilities, in an attempt to help athletes relax amid their intensive training for the Tokyo Olympic Games. 
 
Pan Xiaoting, the “Queen of Nine Ball”, has recently been elected Vice President of Shanghai Billiards Association. She has been the association’s vice president since 2013, and this will be her second vice presidency. 
 
Billiards have become a very popular sport among Chinese celebrities. Recently, Zhao Benshan, a Chinese famous actor and comedian, showed off his billiards skills during a live stream at his house. Besides Zhao, other Chinese stars like Sun Honglei, Yue Yunpeng, Lin Yilun, Xiao Shenyang, Wang Xiaoli and etc, also have their own billiards table. 
 
The 14th Guangzhou International Billiards Exhibition (GBE 2020) has recently changed its date to this August 4th-6th.

Latest on COVID-19 in China
Data from the National Health Commission show that in the past 10 days (March 31-April 9), except for imported cases, only 19 New Local Cases were reported in Mainland China.
